Egbe Running Club

The Egbe running club meets 3 or 4 times a week at 5 PM, usually running 3-4 miles on dirt paths in the nearby countryside. On Saturday, we meet at just before 7 AM for 5-6 miles. I (Dave) always carry water but the others run the shorter distances without!!  For our Saturday long runs, we have had the luxury of having a "mobile aid station" - a nonrunner carrying our water bottles on either a bicycle or four-wheeler.  Abby and Mark Anderson run almost every time as does our housemate Chris. Others who are here short term join in ......I'm typically a morning runner so have ventured out by myself a few mornings with my trusty Ipod. In the AM, it is "only" 79 degrees but the humidity is usually over 80% so it really is not much better than running at 5 PM when the temp is 105 degrees with 25% humidity. .....Needless to say, no speed records are set in his heat!!!!  .....I will soon need to figure out how I will go from this level of training to the 15.5 miles of the Grand Rapids River Bank Run  in 7 weeks !!!!

Our housemate from Canada, Chris, driving the four-wheeler since he is on the
injured reserve list. Brianna from Illinois is his trusty assistant. In the back, from
left to right, are Matt (a mechanic),  Scott ( a surgeon,)  Don Campion,
Abby Anderson from Egbe, and me.

We were thankful for the abundant water supply!!!!

My running shoes used to be white - now, they are completely covered with dust from the
dry roads!!
