Goodbye Winter and Happy Birthday Dexter!!

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and we will be leaving for a 2 month visit to Egbe Hospital in Nigeria.  We will be flying from Grand Rapids to Chicago to Frankfort, Germany, and finally to Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. After a night at a guesthouse, we will join a construction team sent by Samaritan's Purse for the 7 hour bus ride to the hospital.

We hope that the internet is adequate for us to send blog posts periodically.

So, with mixed emotions, we must say "goodbye" to the frigid Michigan winter and "hello" to dry season in Nigeria, where the temps often reach 100 degrees!

Last night, we celebrated Dexter's 2nd birthday. As is our tradition, Grampa O made the cake with icing the color selected by the birthday boy and his big sister Stella. We had confetti cupcakes with blue icing!! It was a delight to watch Dex open his presents - he has a special fondness for trains which he calls "choo-choo trains"!

Happy Birthday to Dexter !!

This blue icing is great!

Baby Lincoln, now a month old, enjoyed the festivities.
