Baby Boy Idrissa

Baby Idrissa is about 3 months old.  He came to HBB April 17th from another hospital where he had been treated for two weeks for swelling of his abdomen.  They had treated him with antibiotics and he was not improving.  When he arrived we knew that something big was happening in his abdomen but we did not know what it was. We did xrays, ultrasound and began Rocephin and Flagyl; we put a tube down into his stomach and provided IV fluids. The stomach contents were bilious green--not a good sign.  He did not improve over the next few days and so he was taken to surgery April 20.  The surgeons found that his left side big intestine was dead/necrotic; he also had a big section of small bowel and appendix that were dead/necrotic.  They removed the large sections and made a small bowel and large bowel ostomy.  Our surgeon said that if he lived two days, they would go back to surgery again. Diagnosis?  Never seen before-totally unknown.

I was asked to help manage his fluids and medical care.  I sent out request for prayer and people have been praying.  Our surgeon sent a similar message--prayers have been covering him.  The day after surgery he was bright eyed and sucking!! He was doing so well that on April 22 we went back to surgery.  The surgeons did not find other areas of dead tissue so they reconnected his small bowel and left him with just a colostomy.



April 25 we begin to feed him and the bowels are working.....!!! This is not logical-this is Miracle!
