Some Outpatient Scenes

Our 'workspace" at Kudjip is compact and well laid out. On one side of a long central walkway are the 4 inpatient wards and on the other side are the ER, Outpatient Clinic, Operating Room, and Central Supply. Ancillary services of  X-Ray, Pharmacy, and Lab are nearby.

The long central walkway is usually filled with people but quiet on a Sunday afternoon!

Clinic sign-in area.

Not long afterwards, the patients begin to queue up.

The Outpatient Clinic is open and airy with many exam rooms.

In the clinic exam room with translator Sophy, nursing student Susan, and a patient.

The large open ER has 4 beds on each side, a central area for larger procedures, and a cast area. Here, Dr. Jim Radcliffe is preparing to place a chest tube.

Radiology is just one machine but the 2 techs, Junior and Mr. Lakawa, do excellent work!

The Pharmacy is very well stocked - here, Jonah and Mia are preparing outpatient prescriptions.

The Lab does basic testing and prepares blood for transfusion. Common tests include CBCs, malaria, HIV, liver function, kidney function, and urinalysis. A separate lab does CD4 counts for the AIDS patients.

Chaplain John and several other chaplains minister to the patients spiritual needs.
