Chitokoloki - Life at the base

The guesthouse was a very comfortable duplex.

Vegetables were abundant - we ate well as vegetarians !

The Zambesi River, as viewed from our bedroom window - pretty as a picture !!

Torrential rains were common - the noise on the metal roof was deafening.

Three boys stopped by several times after school and we enjoyed their company - Booyah, Boyd, and Reagan!

The church on the mission base.

Interior of the church, Sunday AM services.

An old seagoing container outfitted as an "internet cafe".

Next to the hospital there are elementary and high schools.

The main road (really !) about a mile south of the hospital. This was a great place to take a walk and an excellent running path.

Small village a mile from the hospital.

At the base, we had water pumped up from the river; in the villages, humble wells provided water.

The mighty Zambesi River was only a quarter mile walk from our duplex.

"The Zambesi River, as viewed from our bedroom window" Looks so painted that I had to look at it several times to see if it was a real view or a painted picture on the wall.
Yes rain on a metal roof can be really loud. Our house in Lowell has an added bedroom and it also has a metal roof and when it rained we always talked louder. Sure enjoyed it while I sleeped. :-)
