Ready to soar!!

It's 8 AM, Thursday January 15. We leave for the airport today at Noon !!!

The last week before a trip like this is always interesting. My (Dave's) tendency is to "spin" , ie repeatedly go over plans, itineraries, packing lists, suitcase weights, etc. "Spinning" is basically a nonproductive use of time !!!! .....this time, I do believe that I was less of a "spinner" !!! About a week ago, in anticipation of pre-trip jitters, I started reading the Psalms for my morning devotions - these expressions of praise and worship to God have been quite calming - for example Psalm 46:10 says "Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress."

Last Sunday, we had a wonderful sermon by Pastor Samra on the significance, importance, power, and necessity of prayer. There was a wonderful choir/soloist selection whose words have been playing in my head all week long........."I'm so very ordinary, nothing special on my own----but when I call on Jesus, all things are possible. I can mount on wings like eagles and soar."

That reminded me of a passage from the Old Testament book of Isaiah, chapter 40 "...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

So, the question I need to ask myself today and every day is "Am I going to just get by or am I going to SOAR?"

....we look forward to sharing this adventure with you all in the coming weeks
...God bless you all !!!!
