A few more scenes of daily life at Galmi....

Every Sunday at 5 PM, we have a worship service at the Community Center room. People take turns leading the services. This week, the leader was a visiting pastor from the Carolinas who is the spiritual director for the PAACS Surgical Residents. The lady to the left is translating the sermon from English to French, for the benefit of those in the audience whose first language is French.

Galmi is blessed by flights to and from Niamey six days a week.  Here is Dr. Katherine Shafer arriving last Monday.
Katherine is a board-certified general surgeon from our home church in Grand Rapids. She has just completed six months of Hausa language training and has now begun her work as one of the surgical faculty, training African surgical residents. She plans to serve longterm through the mission organization SIM, which runs Galmi Hospital.

Nothing beats homemade whole-wheat bread delivered warm every Tuesday evening!!
