Farewell to Cameroon- Hike to Paradise Falls

GOODBYE FROM CAMEROON !!!

After Saturday morning hospital rounds, we went with the Barriers and Youngs and Adam Houser (med-peds resident visiting from Cincinnati) on a 4 hour hike to one of the local waterfalls. Along the way, we enjoyed the beautiful mountainous panoramas and bright blue skies. After a lunch stop, several of the guys went down to the base of the falls for a swim, which they said was quite strenuous, especially the part where they got themselves from the water by climbing up a steep slope on vines! Meanwhile, the rest of us made our way back to the base, getting lost at one point - thankfully, a boy in a nearby village guided us back to the right path.

Start of our adventure, at Mbingo Hopspital

The view back toward the hospital complex and nearby village
was breathtaking.

This picture doesn't exactly fit but I had to
show it! Along the hike, we met a young man
who had trapped and killed a "bush rat" - what
do you suppose that he was going to do with it??

Paradise Falls !!

Our friends, the Barriers and Youngs.

With the recent start of the rains, vegetation
is lush and beautiful flowers are
everywhere!
