Some scenes around the mission base

Our base is situated near the town of Adeta, on the Danyi Plateau in western Togo, around 60 miles north of the Atlantic Ocean and about 10 miles from the border with Ghana.  The area has lush vegetation and abundant rain. If we leave the hospital compound and turn left, we immediately face a steep climb up the mountain heading west towards Ghana. This is where we enjoy early walks in the relative cool of the early morning

Looking down the mountain at the airstrip.
The views are gorgeous but we have to be attentive
since motorcycles and taxis loaded with produce
sometimes travel down with engines off to save gasoline !!

About a mile from the hospital is the closest church, where many of the
hospital employees attend.

Missionaries get their things to the field in sea-going containers.
At HBB, they have put them together and faced them with local Akata stone.

The Togo version of the Good Humor man is the Fan Milk man, who
delivers frozen treats each weekend in a cooler carried on his bicycle.

Lizards, bugs, and spiders abound here.
We never go out at night without a strong flashlight !!

Sunrise occurs shortly we leave for our walk up the mountain at 5:30 AM.
The views are spectacular !!
