Not long after we returned home from Togo last December, we spoke with our friend Robin Jenkins at World Medical Mission to see where we might serve this February and March. She suggested Chitokoloki Mission Hospital in the northwest province of Zambia. After prayerful consideration, we decided to accept her suggestion. We leave February 14 from Detroit, with stops in DC and Johannesburg before arriving at the Zambian capital city of Lusaka. We'll spend the first few days visiting one of Susie's former family medicine residents (Christa Murphy) and her family who work in community development and with HIV orphans in southwest Zambia. They are only an hour or so from Victoria Falls, one of the 7 wonders of the world, and we are definitely planning a stop there !! We'll see if time allows for any other "touristy" adventures before we return to Lusaka for the 2 hour mission aviation flight to Chitokoloki Hospital, which is on the banks of the Zambesi River. We will return home on April 1.
It sounds like the internet connection at Chitokoloki will not allow picture transmision so we'll probably have to wait for our return to the States to put up some blogposts with pictures and share highlights of our Zambian adventure! We do hope to be able to communicate via regular email.
Many thanks to those who are praying for us !!
