REACTIVATING THE BLOG !!!

Its been 1 1/2 years since our last posting !!!

We are excited to be planning for two months in Togo at Hopital Baptiste Biblique (Karolyn Kempton Memorial Hospital) this October and November.

To catch you up to on what has been going on with us.........We returned home from Niger in February 2009 to help Susie's parents. That July, they moved to a lifecare community in Grand Rapids and have adjusted well. Dad had hip surgery and has improved but will need a revision this December. We were thankful that they recently sold their Geneva, Illinois home after having it on the market for a year.

In the fall of 2009, we were actively planning our next adventure when David developed blood clots in his right leg and extensive pulmonary emboli (clots that travel from the legs to the lungs)which required 6 months of careful monitoring of blood thinner medicine. In June 2010, he was found to have a low grade thyroid cancer and had his entire thyroid gland removed - thankfully, the outlook is very good and this should not affect his lifespan.

We have enjoyed the beautiful Michigan summer with a lot of time at the Radecky cottage on Crystal Lake in northern Michigan. We have continued to enjoy bike rides together - a month ago, we joined 10,000 other enthusiastic riders at the Ragbrai (one week ride across Iowa).

We have both been involed in Bible studies and Susie is in the midst of a Torah study with a group of women. Also, she sang in the Calvary Church choir this past year.
